Global Edmonton has been a partner in communications for many years. For all charitable organizations, the opportunity to tell stories and connect with the community is crucial. Through the power of television, and their impressive social media platforms, Global Edmonton is committed to making a difference in our community. Global Edmonton is excited to work with BGCBigs to champion the mentorship program through education, awareness and by motivating viewers to support our youth and the Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area.
We are incredibly grateful to the team at Global for sharing their talent, wisdom – and their medium – in support of the children and youth of Edmonton.
In 2013, News Hour Co-Anchor Carole Anne Devaney made the exciting decision to become a Big Sister. As she continues through the process of application, interview, references and training, we are working to connect her with her new Little Sister. Please visit often as Carole Anne shares her experiences.

Carole Anne is officially a Big Sister! She has been introduced to 14 year old Leah and they hit it off right away. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, the pair were hosted in a friend’s suite at the Taylor Swift concert as their first outing together. Carole Anne reports they had so much fun, lots of photos and great conversation. Although Leah’s got a lot going on this summer, she’s looking forward to spending the afternoon at Global Edmonton this month and being part of a commercial shoot for the BGCBigs public service announcement campaign, generously donated by the amazing folks at Global.
On reflecting about this new experience, Carole Anne shared that she was very aware of setting a good example for Leah. We’re pretty sure they’re off to a great start!
