YOUCAN Youth Services has served youth in the Edmonton area for almost ten years. Our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Alberta funded project that brings at-risk youth together into a unique 15 week group-based pre-employability skills program.
The Verto Project will give youth the skills to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle which will lead them to suitable employment or schooling, with conflict management, communication skills, asset development and leadership skills.
During their training the youth will be empowered to identify the risk factors that have promoted and enabled their current choices, as well as be able to identify and implement the protective factors that will assist in decreasing those same behaviors. The project will also include employment development, personal development, technology training, conflict resolution and communication as well as health and wellness, volunteerism, life transition and leadership development.
The Verto Project runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday at the YOUCAN Youth Services office, 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton
