“I don’t have a lot of free time.”
“Women are better with children.”
“I don’t do anything fun.”
“I have kids of my own.”

There are an infinite number of reasons why now might not be the right time for you to become a Big Brother. But mentoring a young boy can be achievable and flexible for men with nearly any schedule or lifestyle. But most importantly, it can drastically improve the life of a child today.

One of my fondest memories was having burgundy cherry ice cream with [my Big]. That was a huge thing for me. I didn’t get ice cream often, so I remember what a treat it was…”

It may seem simple, but going for ice cream meant the world to this child. You can do that. You can be that for a young boy in our community.

Yesterday was the start of the 4th annual BGCBigs 100 Men 100 Days Campaign where we challenge ourselves and our community to find 100 men – in only 100 days – who will become mentors to 100 children.

We have over 300 boys (Littles) who are waiting for a Big Brother. Many of those boys will wait for up to two years before they are matched. Why? Because we simply don’t have enough men who believe they can be a positive influence in the life of a child.

Becoming a mentoring with BGCBigs is simple. It’s about sharing time: play catch, read a book or watch movies and make popcorn. Through our enrollment process, we get to know you so we can find the best match for you. Our matches are based on common interests and time considerations, and your caseworker will be here to cheer you on and help you out if you need it.

There is a child who lives in your neighbourhood who would be thrilled to be your Little Brother. Being a Big Brother isn’t rocket science; it can be as simple as a trip for ice cream.
