Graduation Bigs

_k7a0013-2Overview:  This program matches one mentor (Big) with one mentee (Little) and focuses on helping students reach high school graduation. Volunteers participate in activities that help to build the relationship between mentor and menthe and also activities that focus on helping the youth reach their goals. Examples of outings include: job shadowing, going on college or university tours, volunteering together, working on homework, studying, working on job or school applications, cultural activities, school events, etc.

Minimum Commitment: 1 to 3 years depending on the grade of the student, minimum 1 hour a week.

Availability: Currently this program is running out of the Eastglen High School. The match can/will meet both out in the community and at the school.

Mentors: Ideal candidates for the role of Graduation Mentor include those with a flexible schedule, current post-secondary students and successful graduates of university/college/trade school, retired professionals, business owners, goal oriented/driven, and those with an understanding of issues facing today’s youth.

Mentees: The youth who will participate in this program are students who could benefit from additional support in the pursuit of their academic and career goals. Students might come from humble situations, might be struggling academically or socially, or might need help shaping their goals.
