We need

More Males Mentoring

GOAL: 100 Men

BGCBigs currently has a waitlist of over 600 boys who are waiting for a male mentor to step up as volunteers in our community-based Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program.  Some of these young men have been waiting for up to three years to be matched. Our children and youth need positive relationships to empower them to fulfil their potential for the future. Research shows that children who have a mentor in their life are less likely to be anxious and feel isolated, and will have better mental health (BBBS Canada 2020). This is what our children and youth need, now more than ever before.

You don’t have to win a Grey Cup to be a mentor, spending as little as a few hours a week can mean the world to these young people and it’s as easy as spending time doing anything from throwing a football 🏈 to going out for ice cream 🍦.

Community Mentoring: Big Brothers Big Sisters Program

Join the BGCBigs family in our Big Brother Big Sister program. We’ll match you with a child or youth as a Volunteer Mentor to spend quality time with them. We know that youth benefit from positive caring adult role models. Learn more.

We value diversity and are experts in matching youth with mentors based on shared experience and interests.

Why mentor?

Mentoring gives you the opportunity to connect with a young person to inspire positive progress.
Spending time with a young person can be as simple as going for a walk, grabbing a coffee, or seeing a movie – you can support a young person today just by being you!

We are looking for mentors who:

  • have a diverse background of lived experiences
  • represent any culture, sexual orientation, gender or gender expression
  • are passionate about supporting a young person!

No specific skills needed, just your time and passion to ignite potential.
