On Thursday May 16, 2013, 3 teens and BGCBigs staffer Cathleen Bell attended the 2013 Premier’s Prayer Breakfast at the Shaw Conference Centre. The girls are part of the Eastglen/Grant MacEwan tutoring program and were thrilled to be invited by the Premier as her guests of honour. Two of the girls joined Premier Redford at her table, providing an incredible opportunity to learn from and listen to this amazing woman.
The Prayer Breakfast is an international event hosted in over 200 nations and focuses on strengthening relationships by providing representatives from around the province an opportunity to gather in celebration of community.
The event included scripture reading, prayers, musical interludes, and a guest speaker. Before departing the event, Cathleen and the girls posed for a picture with the Premier.
Our sincere thanks to Premier Redford and her team for sharing their time and attention with these 4 lucky individuals. Their experience is one they will never forget.
What our girls had to say…
“Meeting the Premier of Alberta was a great experience. She’s a very humble and genuine person whom you’d click with right off the bat. At first i was a bit nervous to meet someone who held such an important position but she made you feel comfortable with her courtesy. We made small talk about school and what i’d like to do in the future. I would definitely love to meet her again. Shes an amazing woman whom i consider my role model.” Farida Dahir
