BGCBigs Virtual Group Programming for Kids

In an effort to continuously serve children and youth, Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area is providing distance-based, virtual programming, through which our agency staff will facilitate program activities through online platforms.

Virtual Programming will be scheduled in advance and displayed on this page. Leadership, health, physical activity, reading, tutoring, science, technology, engineering, math, arts, driver education courses are just some of the categories of online learning your children/youth will be able to take part in.

Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area will use software, tools and applications provided by third parties that members, parents/guardians and/or staff will access via the Internet and use for purposes of communication and programming. This platform is G Suite, using the Google Meets, Google Classroom, Google Sites and Google Docs applications.

Virtual Program Availability: Edmonton, Strathcona, Parkland County, Cold Lake, Lac La Biche, Morinville, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain.

Power UP*
(Ages: 6-12)

PowerUp BGCBigs

Power Up! is an academic support program that helps kids develop positive study habits and practices at school, and encourages a life-long interest in learning. Participants are given the tools and environment necessary to set and plan for academic goals, and are helped along the way by volunteer tutors and mentors.

Cool Moves
(Ages: 6-12)

CoolerMoves BGCBigs

Cool Moves is a national activity and healthy eating awareness program designed to create a life-long appreciation for a healthy, active lifestyle. Cool Moves has two distinct parts: Eat Smart, in which participants are encouraged to make healthier eating choices, and Play Cool, in which participants are encouraged to engage in more physical activity.

UPS Road Code
(Ages 13+)

UPD Road Code

The program focuses on different safety principles, from basic instruction to the consequences of risky behaviors such as talking on cell phones, texting or drinking while driving. The program’s driving simulators test teens’ safe driving knowledge using a computer screen featuring interactive animation, a steering wheel, and life-like gas and brake pedals.

Raise the Grade
(Ages 14+)

Raise The Grade BGCBigs

Raise the Grade, supported by RBC Future Launch, is a multi-faceted education program that increases academic skills, high school graduation rates, and access to post-secondary education for youth. It is an interactive after-school program that allows young people to explore their personal interests, receive homework support, connect with mentors and/or tutors, interact with peers, increase their digital literacy, and plan for post-secondary education.

Kid Food Nation
(Ages 7-12)

Kid Food Nation BGCBigs
To help kids and families develop food skills through hands-on experiences related to planning, preparing, and cooking. The program also features an online hub with resources for healthy eating and meal preparation, and a national recipe competition that encourages kids to put their food literacy skills into practice and submit original, healthy, and nutritious recipes.

Youth Employment
(Ages 13+)

Employment Readiness BGCBigs

To support youth in Employment. This employment readiness program focuses on developing soft skills such as resume writing, job searching, exploring career pathways, and an opportunity to gain employment.

Dungeons and Dragons
(Ages 13+)

Dungeons and Dragons BGCBigs

Youth are invited to join an afternoon of table top, role-playing games. Staff will lead a campaign of Dungeons of Dragons, guiding youth as they conjure an adventure of problem-solving, teamwork and creative thinking.
