We are so excited for November 4 – the date of our Lobster Lovers Feast at Chateau Lacombe. It’s a Dinner and Auction in support of our community’s children and you’re invited! Lobster Lovers isn’t just one of our largest fundraisers, it’s also one of our favourite events! Here are 10 reasons why you should come spend the evening with us.
1) Be Inspired
We’ve got an amazing speaker lined up – someone who will share first hand the impact folks like you have on kids. It’s a moving story – stay tuned for the announcement.
2) Have Fun
Lobster Lovers is a downright good time! We have entertainment, lovely guests, and inspiring talks. Oh, and did we mention the delicious lobster? Yeah, that’s its own reason to come.
3) Be Comfortable
So many of us are constantly wearing business, business casual, or even semi-formal clothes. But not this night! Wear your casual clothes. Lobster is almost as messy as it is delicious, so wear something you don’t mind getting butter all over (bibs will be provided).
4) Appreciate Your Community
One of the most powerful and uplifting parts of Lobster Lovers is knowing that you are in a room with hundreds of other people who care about the future of our community, who believe we need to always strive to better support our kids and families. Mingle, meet new people, and take time appreciate this amazing community that we have created together.
5) Get Silly in our Photo Booth
Stop by our Lobster Photo Booth and get your pictures taken with a Lobster, in a Lobster suit, or with all sorts of fun props! It’s another fun part of the evening and makes a great keepsake! It’s way cooler than a selfie (but we encourage those all night too)!
6) Enjoy Live & Local Entertainment
Canadian Idol Contestant, Martin Kerr, will be entertaining us all night long! His profound and memorable lyrics are the perfect addition to an already fun evening.
7) Win Prizes & Bid On Items
We’ve got so many cool and interesting things to give away! From a Trip for 2 from West Jet or eating your lobster dinner with the Commander. You’ll have to come to learn about the rest. And we can’t forget the amazing Silent Auction stocked by countless individuals, companies, and Best Buy to ensure you have access to the latest entertainment products! Our Live Auction is one of a kind. You’ll get to bid on big ticket and exciting items, but you’ll also have the chance to directly change a child’s life.
8) Meet Sarah Chan
We are so grateful that the lovely and talented and caring Sarah Chan is the Honourary Chair of Lobster Lovers again this year. We all know how busy she is and we are just thrilled to get to spend the evening with her. Plus, she might be bringing her husband Don Iveson along, and we are thankful that our Mayor also makes time for our community’s kids. Sarah has been volunteering her time as a Big Sister for several years now and her philosophy is that if she has time to spend an hour a week with a child so does everyone else (except maybe her husband).
9) Mark Connolly
A mainstay at CBC Edmonton for more than 25 years, Mark Connolly is the host Edmonton AM, CBC Radio’s morning show. Mark grew up in Edmonton and continues to care deeply about this city and the kids who also call it home. We are so excited that Mark will be emceeing our event again this year. Come out and you’ll likely get a chance to shake his hand!
10) Make a Difference
Yeah okay, that might sound cliché but we believe it’s true. By coming to Lobster Lovers you’re helping us raise money to provide the kids and families of our community with the supports and services they need. You’re showing kids that they matter. This event is one of our largest and most important fundraisers and truly enables us to continue our important work.
Do you have a reason we missed? Share it with us. We hope to see you there!
