U of A Basecamp Day of Caring 2016

Day of Caring

Participating in a Day of Caring is the perfect way to see how our Club and/or After-School programs run. Gather your coworkers and join us for a day of fun and activities while having a positive impact on future generations.

How it works:

Three (3) or more of your team members will be invited to one of our nine (9) Club sites or 5 After-School programs where you’ll offer your support by spending time with the kids, running activities, general cleaning, meal/snack prep or activity prep.

ATB Corporate Mentoring 2016

Corporate Mentoring

To make the biggest impact on the lives of young people in your community, become a Corporate Mentor.

How it works:

Support a group of young people at your workplace to foster one-to-one relationships through weekly mentoring and watch as your mentees build self-confidence, learn new skills and for deeper connections to their communities.

Support Volunteerism

BGCBigs is currently facing a critical shortage of volunteer mentors. In fact, due to overwhelming requests for mentorship and connection over the last several months, we have had to close our general intake for new youth applications. We simply don’t have enough volunteer mentors to meet the needs of our long waitlist and rather than continue adding young people to the waitlist, we’ve paused all general intake for the foreseeable future.

This means we have hundreds of young people who are still waiting to be matched with a mentor—some of these young people could wait as long as 2 years.

One Time

Host a Volunteer Drive

Invite us to share our need for volunteers to your staff and clients.

How it works:

We can share our message in a variety of ways, from hosting a Lunch N’ Learn session at your office and distributing information to your teams to setting up a recruitment table at your location. We’re ready and willing to come to you!

Volunteer Appreciation

Help us show appreciation to our amazing volunteers by donating items (e.g., gift cards to local attractions, restaurants, shops, etc.), offering discounts (i.e., to help with the cost of mentor/mentee activities), and/or sponsoring appreciation events (hint: National Volunteer Week happens in April every year).

Ongoing

Discount Card

Become part of our growing list of proud partners providing discounts and/or freebies to our Community-based mentors and mentees. We’re always trying to help our volunteer mentors cover the costs associated with being a mentor such as the cost of match activities like going to a local attraction or restaurant.

How it works:

Let us know what you and/or your local business can provide and we’ll promote your offer to our volunteer mentors and their mentees. We’ll also promote your business on our website, give your recognition on our social media channels and provide you with a “Friend of BGCBigs” decal you can put up inside your business to show your generous support of our children, youth and families.

When our volunteer mentors visit your business, they’ll show their BGCBigs Membership Card to access your offer.

We’re always looking for new businesses to join this program. Reach out and start supporting our community today!

Share the Message

Sometimes the most valuable way anyone can help support us is by spreading our message of need.

How it works:

    • Display posters at your storefronts
    • Display handbills at your workplace
    • Distribute our message in your newsletters
    • Share our message on your social media channels
