We’re incredibly thankful to Rogers Communications for the support they have provided to our Club programs over the past year. With the community grant they provided, we continue to provide kids with opportunities to connect with positive role models and peers, enjoy a healthy meal and explore our core program areas: arts and culture, physical activity, health and nutrition, academic support, personal growth, empowerment, life skills and leadership.

BGCBigs Clubs’ offer free out-of-school program options to 9 Club sites in vulnerable neighbourhoods across Edmonton. These programs provide safe, positive and educational activities to help support positive self-image and self-confidence, improved academic performance and engagement in learning. Our Club staff are committed to nurturing enjoyment and encouraging active participation among all our child and youth participants.

We believe that every child should have access to opportunities for growth and development, regardless of their financial situation and the Rogers community grant has allowed us to ensure we continue to provide these opportunities for our children, youth, and families.

Our staff had this to say about a wonderful new club member:

“We recently welcomed a new family to the Club. Three siblings whose family just moved to Edmonton. Although M (age 11) and his siblings speak English as a second language, they have adjusted to our Club environment so well and are now thriving! M has been a great example for our other kids with his exceptional manners and maturity. He always makes sure to great staff with a handshake! He is consistently the first to begin tidying up following activities and enjoys our math and literacy programs. His example has rubbed off on our kiddos who will often join in with M when he is tidying up or doing academic work. The Club has been the perfect place for M and his siblings because of our large Arabic speaking demographic. For this reason, he has been able to fit right in! And staff have been able to rely on our kids to help translate and include him in all activities. M inspired us to post a translation of our “Club Promises” in Arabic in the main space. M is making friends, becoming a leader and steadily improving his English. We are so happy to have him and his siblings at club!” –(BGCBigs Club Staff)
