In School Mentoring is a program where a child is matched with a caring adult who visits their school once a week for approximately one hour during the school year. BGCBigs asks for a commitment of a minimum one school year however, the success of the program increases with a longer term commitment.
Time spent together is guided by a 20.20.20 rule.
20 minutes catching up and talking about each other’s week and experiences
20 minutes going over homework and/or reading challenges
20 minutes of recreational activities from reading together, to cooking, playing games or going for a walk
