Mentoring Youth & Young Adults from Care

Be a friend.

Be a mentor to a young adult.

In this new (short-term commitment) mentoring program, mentors—like YOU—will volunteer mentor a young adult (ages 16-24) as part of BGCBigs' Mentoring Youth & Young Adults program.

The Mentoring Youth & Young Adults in Care (MYYAC) program is an extension of BGCBigs’ Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Siblings program and is designed to match mentors with young adults who have current or previous involvement with Children Services (ie. living in foster homes or group care) or are transitioning out of care and living independently.

We currently have a waitlist of young adults (ages 16-24) who are waiting to be matched with a mentor. The goal of this new short-term commitment program is to reduce this waitlist, while providing volunteers with a unique opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience and make a friend.

Deadline to apply is January 31, 2025. Mentoring takes place from March 2025 through end of August 2025.

  3. Complete a Police Information Check

EXCLUSIVE PERK

BGCBigs will support your mentoring match by providing volunteers with a variety of tickets and/or passes for you and your mentee to attend community events, cultural experiences, local festivals or shows together in the city (and surrounding area) this spring and summer.

A NOTE TO VOLUNTEERS

Volunteer mentors in the MYYAC program must be in a place in their own life where they are able to support a marginalized vulnerable person who may be going through a lot.

Deadline to apply is January 31, 2025.

Mentoring takes place from March 2025 through end of August 2025.
