Every Shot Counts: Thank You for Making the 2026 Children First Golf Classic a Success!

There’s something special about seeing a golf course come to life first thing in the morning.

On August 20, golfers, sponsors, volunteers and friends of BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area (BGCBigs) gathered at Cougar Creek Golf Resort for our annual Children First Golf Classic. From the first carts heading onto the course to the final putts of the day, there were plenty of laughs, friendly competition and, most importantly, a community coming together for children and youth.

Together, our community raised $167,600.30 in support of BGCBigs programs and services, helping create more opportunities for children and youth across Edmonton and the surrounding area.

The Children First Golf Classic has been part of BGCBigs for more than 20 years, and year after year, we’re reminded that it’s about much more than a round of golf.

A day of golf with a bigger purpose

Throughout the course, teams shared laughs, celebrated great shots (and maybe a few they’d rather forget), took part in activities and enjoyed a day together in support of something bigger.

Behind every swing, every sponsorship and every person who joined us is an investment in young people across Edmonton and the surrounding area.

Funds raised through the Children First Golf Classic help BGCBigs provide mentoring, out-of-school programs, educational supports, youth employment and engagement opportunities to more than 4,200 children and youth in our communities. These programs create spaces where young people can build relationships, discover their strengths, feel like they belong and have people in their corner as they grow. That’s what makes a day like this so meaningful.

Every shot made an impact

The impact of the Children First Golf Classic reaches far beyond what happens on the course. This year, we were especially grateful to receive an incredible $20,000 donation from Wolfe Pack Warriors Edmonton in support of BGCBigs and the children and youth we serve. This generous investment will directly fund programs like safe spaces to go after school, free academic support, free meals and snacks, youth employment programs and so much more.

A BIG thank you to Wolfe Pack Warriors Edmonton for showing up for young people in such a meaningful way. We’re grateful to have you in our corner. 💚

And the impact didn’t stop there.

$167,600.30 raised

Thanks to the generosity of our golfers, sponsors, donors and supporters, the 2026 Children First Golf Classic raised $167,600.30 in support of BGCBigs programs and services.

But that number represents more than dollars raised. It represents more opportunities for a young person to connect with a caring mentor. More spaces where kids can spend time learning, playing and being themselves. More opportunities for young people to develop confidence, build skills and imagine what might be possible for their futures. And it happened because our community showed up.

Thank you for showing up for young people

An event like the Children First Golf Classic takes a community to make possible. To every golfer who joined us on the course, every sponsor who invested in the day, every volunteer who helped things run smoothly, and everyone who contributed behind the scenes: Thank you.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued belief in BGCBigs and the young people we serve. A special thank you to LANDREX, our Title Sponsor, along with all of our generous 2026 sponsors and partners who helped make this year’s tournament possible.

We would also like to thank our Golf Advisory Team for the time, energy and care they put into bringing another Children First Golf Classic to life.

Until next tee time ⛳

The golf clubs may be packed away, and the carts returned, but the impact of this year’s tournament continues long after the final hole. Thank you for spending the day with us, for supporting BGCBigs and, most importantly, for helping create more opportunities for children and youth across our community.

We can’t wait to see you back on the course for the 2027 Children First Golf Classic!

Together, we’re helping young people build brighter futures—one relationship, one opportunity and, sometimes, one round of golf at a time.
