About the Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Albert program:

BBBS St. Albert provides one-on-one mentoring opportunities where one mentor and one mentee spend time together building a friendship based on trust, support, common interests, and fun! Mentors and mentees participate in a variety of activities—everything from riding bikes, skating, reading, working on homework, cooking and playing video games to just talking and sharing with each other. The focus is on friendship and new experiences. Like our match, for example Justin & Sean*:

“Justin comes from a family of four, raised by a single mom alongside his two sisters. He was enrolled in our program to provide him with the male companionship his mother felt unable to provide. After four months in the program, Justin and Sean’s match has blossomed, with both parties expressing immense satisfaction. Sean’s noted striking similarities between himself and Justin, particularly in their past insecurities and shyness. Determined to help Justin grow, Sean has been encouraging him to step out of his comfort zone, witnessing tangible improvements already. Justin’s mom echoed Sean’s observations, noting Justin’s newfound outgoingness and enthusiasm for trying different sports. Surprisingly, they’ve discovered numerous shared interests, including their status as the only male members in their respective families, a passion for science, and a love for the outdoors.
