Rain Couldn’t Stop the Fun

On June 5, school buses arrived from BGCBigs Club locations across Edmonton, carrying excited members ready to celebrate Club Day 2026. 

While the weather had other plans and rain forced activities indoors, it didn’t take long for the energy of the day to fill the building. Members, families, volunteers, staff, and community partners gathered to celebrate another year of friendships, growth, and memorable experiences made through BGCBigs programs. What could have been a rainy afternoon quickly became a day filled with laughter, connection, and plenty of unforgettable moments

When the Music Started, So Did the Dancing 

Some of the best moments of the day weren’t planned. As music played through the speakers, members began gathering, forming dance circles and showing off their moves. What started as background music quickly turned into an impromptu dance party, with young people from different Club locations dancing, laughing, and encouraging one another to join in. 

The spontaneous celebration brought members together in a way that perfectly captured the spirit of Club Day—a chance to connect, have fun, and simply enjoy being together. 

Showing Club Pride

Throughout the event, members proudly represented their Club communities by creating posters and signs showcasing their locations. A little friendly competition quickly emerged as Clubs cheered each other on throughout the day. Whether participating in activities, supporting teammates during games, or taking part in the always-popular tug-of-war competition, members showed enthusiasm, teamwork, and plenty of Club pride. 

The excitement and encouragement shared between participants created an atmosphere that was welcoming, energetic, and full of positivity. 

A Community Effort 

Club Day 2026 was made possible through the support of dedicated volunteers, community partners, and supporters who helped create a memorable experience for everyone involved. Volunteers from the Government of Alberta, JustServe, Carter’s, youth volunteers, and the Nike team supported activities ranging from arts and crafts to games, event setup, and food service. Guests also had the opportunity to connect with community leaders, including Janis Irwin, MLA for Edmonton-Highlands-Norwood, and representatives from BGC Canada. A community BBQ helped bring everyone together, offering a chance for members, families, volunteers, and staff to relax, connect, and celebrate alongside one another. 

Creating Moments That Matter 

At its heart, Club Day is about more than games, activities, and celebrations. It is about creating opportunities for young people to build friendships, strengthen connections, and experience a sense of belonging. It is about seeing members from different Club locations come together, support one another, and create memories that will last long after the event ends. 

While the rain may have changed the plans, it couldn’t dampen the spirit of the day. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, supported, and celebrated with us. Club Day 2026 was a wonderful reminder that when young people are surrounded by caring adults, supportive peers, and a strong community, great things happen.
