What Kind of Mentor Are You?
Find out!
Every mentor is unique
Some bring energy and fresh ideas, while others offer steady guidance. Others simply show up, week after week, making all the difference. Curious to know your mentorship style?
Take the “What Kind of Mentor Are You?” quiz (facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada) to discover your mentorship personality and see how your everyday actions help a young person build greater self-esteem (just like Abby)
BGC Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area (BGCBigs) connects thousands of young people across Edmonton and surrounding areas to mentors like you every year! And, these volunteer mentors step up to inspire, guide and support them.
Why Mentors Matter
Mentors are more than role models; they’re trusted friends, advocates and motivators. Research shows that young people who have a positive mentor are more likely to graduate from high school, feel confident and pursue meaningful goals. For many, that single connection becomes the spark that ignites their future.
Inspiring Stories
Mentoring helped Abby* know her worth:
“Abby, a young person in our program who had been waiting for a mentor, was recently matched with her mentor (i.e., “Big Sister”). Abby, who faces challenges in building relationships and self-advocacy, has shown significant growth since the match. According to her mother, Abby is now more confident and better at standing up for herself. Recently, Abby shared how she used her allowance to buy matching necklaces for herself and her mentor, with inscriptions that symbolize their special bond.”
